Andy, 47, has overseen dozens of major stories during a career spanning more than three decades. But that's no surprise - as the son of the great Daily Mirror journalist Syd Young, Andy has ink in his veins. He became one of the UK's youngest ever staff reporters when he landed a job on the Today newspaper in the mid-80s, and now runs the news desk at South West News where he is also a partner.
Martin, 32, started his career in journalism early - he was working at South West News in his school holidays! After becoming chief reporter, he was poached to work on the Daily Mail newsdesk. He brought his invaluable Fleet Street experience back to South West News and became a partner in 2005. Along with Andy Young, he runs a team of 15 reporters at offices in Bristol, Plymouth and Cambridge.
Like Andy Young, Paul also has journalism in his blood – his father John was a long-serving staff photographer at the Dail Mail. He joined South West News in 1984 after learning the trade in local newspapers. Since then he has established his department as Britain’s leading independent picture desk, where he runs an award-winning team of 15 photographers. Paul, 47, is also a partner.
Jon, 32, was picture editor of the Western Daily Press for six years before joining South West News three years ago. In 2004 he won the prestigious Press Gazette Photographer of the Year award for his courageous coverage of the Iraq War, where he was embedded with British troops behind enemy lines. He now runs the picture desk with Paul and spearheads our video and new media operation.
Jon first joined South West News in 2005 after graduating from local newspapers. He won the Press Gazette Reporter of the Year award in his first year with the company after a number of scoops and went on to work at the Sunday Times and People newspapers in London. Jon, 29, built up an extensive knowledge of the Sunday newspaper market before re-joining South West News in 2008 as chief reporter.

I received £1,500 for telling my story 'My wife arranged to have me stabbed in the back so she could start a new life with her toy boy lover.
Selling my story through SWNS was a very pleasant experience. The writer did the interview over the phone at a time that was convenient for me and read the article back to me to ensure it was written in a way that I approved of. I was also really happy with the fee I received and was confident that it was the highest offer available. The writer handled all of my press enquiries which took the pressure off of me; all in all it was very stress free.
Shaun Calloway will be appearing in Real People magazine.
